Lake Windermere
Lake Windermere itself is home to a vast range of wildlife, from birds and insects to mammals and plant life. Keep an eye out for wintering birds such as goldeneye and tufted duck, and red kite and peregrine falcon in the skies above. You may also see otters, as well as red squirrels and roe deer in the surrounding woodland.
Grizedale Forest
Grizedale Forest is the perfect place to soak up the sights and sounds of the Lakes. Embark on one of the walking or cycling trails and keep your eye out for roe deer, foxes and grouse, or take a pew in one of the picnic areas and listen out for woodpeckers. White-faced darter dragonflies have also been spotted around the tarns in the forest.
