West Windermere Way
The West Windermere Way is a newly created route that follows the western shore of Windermere between Newby Bridge and the ferry line, linking to the existing Windermere West Shore Way between Ferry House and Wray Castle.
This new route follows the lakeshore in places (mainly off-road), but also heads away from the lake taking in some key visitor attractions.
Gummer’s How
Starting from an elevated position means that almost immediately you’ll be rewarded with beautiful views over the lake, Windermere. A great walk for families, the path meanders towards a gentle climb, up to the summit cairn.
On a fine day, it’s a lovely spot to enjoy the 360-degree view, from the mountain ranges in the north to the seascapes in the south. (Image: Cumbria Tourism)
